The Cardinal John Henry Newman Shrine at the Bournemouth Oratory
Cardinal John Henry Newman (Canonised in Rome on Sunday 13th October 2019) is England’s first Saint in over three hundred years. He brought the Oratory of St Philip Neri from Rome to England in 1849, had profound effect upon the Second Vatican Council, and continues to have much influence in our present day.
His Shrine in the Bournemouth Oratory’s Church of the Sacred Heart was erected for the pre-Canonisation Novena, and remains in place until the Diocesan Mass of Thanksgiving, offered by Bishop Philip Egan, on Friday 25th October at 7pm.
